Piaget destroys Lazy P in USPA
President’s Cup Finals

Piaget (Melissa Ganzi, Juan Bollini, Jr., Juan Bollini and Leo Mandelbaum) charged out
to a commanding 7-1 halftime lead over Lazy P (Wesley Finlayson, Santiago Galland,
Gringo Colombres and Chuck Pugsley) before running away with the victory in the finals
of the USPA National President’s Cup Saturday afternoon at the International Polo Club
in Wellington.
Piaget’s Leo Mandelbaum scored on two penalty goals in the opening chukker with
Lazy P’s Wesley Finlayson scoring once from the field. Lazy P trailed 2-1 after one
chukker of play.
Defenses held tight again in the second chukker, with Lazy P allowing a single goal
from the field from Juan Bollini, Jr. Lazy P was unable to get on the scoreboard and
Piaget held a 3-1 lead after two periods.
Mandelbaum opened the third chukker with a penalty goal and followed it up with a goal
from the field. Juan Bollini added two more goals while the Piaget defense blanked
Lazy P for the second consecutive chukker. At the end of the first half Lazy P trailed by
six goals, 7-1.
Lazy P rebounded in the second half with Finlayson, Santiago Galland and Gringo
Colombres scoring single goals. Piaget managed a penalty goal from Mandelbaum and
a goal from the field from Juan Bollini. Piaget was still on top of a five goals advantage,
9-4.
Two more fifth chukker goals gave Piaget an 11-5 edge, picking up goals from Juan
Bollini, Jr. and Mandelbaum. Colombres scored Lazy P’s only goal.
Two more goals from Colombres in the sixth chukker were countered by a penalty goal
from Mandelbaum and a goal from the field from Juan Bollini, Jr. At the end of the
game Piaget was celebrating the 13-7 win.
Colombres led the Lazy P team with four goals and was named MVP for his efforts.
Finlayson added two goals and Galland scored once in the loss.
Mandelbaum set the pace for Piaget with seven goals (five on penalty shots). Juan
Bollini and Juan Bollini, Jr. scored three goals apiece.
Melissa Ganzi’s horse Posh was honored as Best Playing Pony. Posh was played by
Juan Bollini, Jr.
